Holiday Craft Ideas

One of the most memorable parts of the festive season is getting to decorate your home with Christmas decorations. Instead of purchasing store brought, generic decorations, why not put a bit of your heart into creating holiday craft projects. You can even make extra holiday craft projects that you can gift to your loved ones as presents.

Holiday Craft Ideas:

Hand painted Christmas baubles:

One way to give your Christmas tree a personal touch, is to purchase plain Christmas baubles which you can customize by hand-painting them with fine paint brushes. Alternatively, you may want to paint simple monograms on a Christmas bauble for each family member. If you don’t feel confident about your ability to paint characters such as snowmen or reindeer on your Christmas baubles. Alternatively, you may want to roll your Christmas baubles in glue before sprinkling glitter onto them. Make sure to opt for festive colored glitter such as red, gold, or dark green.

Paint pinecones green and place a gold star on top of your pinecones to make Christmas tree shaped decorations:

If you have young kids, it’s a great idea to collect pinecones from your local walking tracks and parks. As you’ll be able to spray paint them with green paint to make them look like adorable, little Christmas trees. As the finishing touch of your craft project, place a gold star such as a gold star that you’ve cut out of cardboard on top of each pinecone. You can then place your Christmas tree mini pinecones around your home, such as on your dressing table and on your coffee table.

Home made advent calendars:

Advent calendars either feature 25 days and 25 surprises to open or 12 days of surprises to open. If you don’t have wood working skills, you can decorate small cardboard boxes which you can decorate for each day of your advent calendar. Then either make or purchase small gifts such as home made chocolates that you can place in each box, so that you can give your advent calendar to a loved one. In order to share the holiday spirit with someone that you care about.

A LEGO based Christmas village:

If you have a few sets of LEGO lying around your home, you may want to create a LEGO based Christmas village. For example, you may want to create a village which features a town square which boasts a Christmas tree. Or you may want to create a gingerbread house style LEGO village that looks so good that you’ll wish that you could taste it. It’s a great idea to decorate your village with LEGO minifigures such as a Santa minifigure and a few Christmas elf minifigures. If you have kids you can get them to help you create your village and you can change the position of your minifigures in the month leading up to Christmas.

In conclusion, if you love crafting in order to get into the holiday spirit, it’s a great idea to experiment with some of the fun craft projects that have been outlined above.
